Center for Ethnographic Research UC Berkeley Summer Workshop in Qualitative Methods
The Center for Ethnographic Research (CER) Workshop provides mentorship, hands-on research experience, and advanced training in designing and executing a project using qualitative methods for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students. The CER Workshop will provide students with six weeks of intensive accelerated methodological training in the design and practice of qualitative methods. The topics in the seminars include the following:
- The Logic and Practice of Qualitative Research Design
- Participant Observation
- In-Depth Interviewing
- Qualitative Data Analysis
Cost and Scholarships
- The six-week training course costs $1,300 per student. There are two scholarship spots for students from any college or university focusing on contemporary Native American issues.

- July 5th – August 11th, 2022, with sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings (9am-11am Pacific Time), over Zoom

Law School Exploration Course
This is a reminder that Pre-Law Services has transitioned from CLA to OUE, and thus the course designator for Law School Exploration for Fall 2022 and on will be OUE 3205 (a change from CLA 3205). The content and delivery will remain the same – it is a 2 credit, fully virtual and asynchronous course. More information on this course can be found here.
POL 3766-Psychology of Mass Behavior
While this course cannot be used within your Sociology major, it is a great complement to your knowledge of human behavior and can help you earn 3 credits toward your 120 degree overall credits. Learn how several different aspects of human behavior influence public opinion and public behavior. Investigate how the current political landscape has been influenced by these aspects of human behavior.
INTRODUCTION TO DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY (DNCE3334/5334)
U of M Dance Department/Fall 2022: Wednesdays 2:05-3:35 – 2 Credits
Course Description: This course is an introduction to the field of dance/movement therapy. It will include 1) historic and theoretical perspectives on the uses of body, movement and dance in relationship to psychology and healing; 2) an introduction to major dance/movement therapy pioneers and techniques; and 3) discussion of the applications of dance/movement therapy to different populations and settings. The class is both experiential and didactic and requires no prior dance or movement skill.

- Join us for PAWS (Pet Away Worry and Stress) at Wilson Library (west bank) on Thursday, April 28 11:30-1:30. Sessions are FREE and open to all.
- “Paint a Pot” Study Break Stop by Walter Library (2nd floor) for a spring study break on Tuesday, April 26 from 4:30 to 5:30 (while supplies last). Paint a pot, plant some seeds, and grab a snack with the UMN Libraries Student Advisory Board. Bring a friend!
- Book talk: A conversation with author Zakiya Dalila Harris of ‘The Other Black Girl’ Weds, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. | Coffman Great Hall The Other Black Girl,” a New York Times bestseller, is about two young Black women who meet in New York City book publishing. It is witty, suspenseful, and explores issues of privilege in all aspects of our society. Hear from Harris about her debut novel in Coffman Union’s Great Hall. Harris will be signing books, too!
