First-Gen Week Speaker: Transforming Institutions, Empowering Futures

The First-Gen Institute is delighted to invite you to join us for our keynote by Dr. Angela Batista in recognition of First-Gen Week on Thursday, November 9th from 10:00am – 11:00am.

Angela E. Batista, EdD, is a proud first-generation student, learner, educator, speaker, facilitator, and coach. Born in the Dominican Republic, she is the first person to graduate high school in her family and to attend college–holding degrees from Brooklyn College, the University of Vermont, and Nova Southeastern University.

Quant Methods InfORMATION Session

With faculty from several graduate programs, we are hosting a virtual information session on November 3rd at 3pm ET/12 pm PT. The session will introduce students to the field of quantitative methods, followed by breakout rooms that focus on building successful graduate applications and preparing for graduate school. Students will have opportunities to learn about the field, speak directly with faculty and graduate students, and ask questions. Click here for more information.

Capitol Pathways Paid Internship

Capitol Pathways is a paid spring internship program for college students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). With the long-term goal of making Minnesota state government and policymaking more representative of our diverse communities, our program provides students leadership, legislative and career readiness training alongside an immersive internship experience with an organization working in policy during the legislative session. Spring 2024 Pre-Health Courses + Celebrate First-Gen Week with the PHSRC
