  • Law School Fair
    • October 3rd at the University of Minnesota will be held in Coffman’s Great Hall – z.umn.edu/lawschoolfair – over 60 law schools attending!
  • UMN/UCLA/George Washington Law Schools
    • September 21, 5:30pm Bruininks 131B- Join us for an in-person event for prospective law students. Hear from admissions representatives at three top-ranked national law schools (University of Minnesota, UCLA, George Washington) about the law school admissions process and what it takes to make your law school application stand out.  
  • Build your Pre-Law Resume 
    • September 28, 5:30pm Bruininks 131B – Join Pre-Law Advisor Erin Reichelt and Petra Asani, 2L at Minnesota Law, to learn about how you can access pre-law advising and support, both from the University and beyond. We will also discuss internships and experiences in the legal field, crafting a successful resume, and hear from board members on how they have explored the legal field during their time at the U of M. Erin will also give an overview of events happening this fall and help prepare for the Law School Fair happening next week.
  • Applying to Law School Webinar
    • Tuesday, October 18th, 4-5pm Central Time – This webinar is open to all U of M students and alums, especially for those who know they’re going to law school and would like guidance about the application process. We’ll discuss application materials and deadlines, as well as how to prepare your application materials so that you’re the best law school applicant you can be.

Health Professional School Interview Prep Workshops 

The PHSRC is again hosting two types of interview prep workshops this fall for students who have applied to a health professional program this cycle and have received an invite to interview, or haven’t yet received an invite yet but are looking to prepare for interview season. Information is included here about our MMI Workshops. Info and dates for the other interview workshop will be shared soon. 

The MMI Experience Workshop – Virtual

  • This virtual workshop covers the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) structure and strategies for preparation, and includes practice at several MMI stations. This workshop is highly interactive and will provide opportunities to practice MMI scenarios and covers tips for virtual interviews. It is intended for applicants to programs that use MMI style interviewing. Advance registration is required.

Health Careers Fair

The Health Careers Fair is coming up just in under a month on Tuesday, October 4! This event will take place in-person this year in Coffman Great Hall. The Health Careers Fair brings many important resources for pre-health students together in one place for students to network with UMN health degree programs, pre-health student groups, campus resources, and find volunteer and work experiences in the healthcare field. 

Life Sciences Graduate School Fair

This fair will feature a range of master’s and PhD programs in the life sciences and related fields and is open to all undergraduate students and alumni (up to two years post-grad). Programs this year include, but are not limited to programs in biotechnology, biomedical sciences, public health, ecology evolution and behavior, patent law, pharmaceutics, genetic counseling, and many more!

Graduate School Options in the Field of Quantitative Methods 

A virtual information session with Matthew Madison a professor of Quantitative Methods at the University of Georgia with faculty from several programs. The session will introduce students to the field of quantitative methods, followed by breakout rooms that focus on building successful graduate applications and preparing for graduate school. Students will have opportunities to learn about the field, speak directly with faculty and graduate students, and ask questions.

  • Drop-in hours 511 Bruininks Hall & Virtual: Pre-Law Advising drop-in hours will be available both in-person and virtually. These are staffed by Pre-Law Peer Advisor, Mae Hyser, a junior majoring in Political Science. Fall 2022 Hours – always confirm at https://prelaw.umn.edu/dropin

Fall Food Pantry Dates & Food Resources 

Boynton’s Health’s Nutritious U Food Pantry has moved! Students can now find us in Coffman Memorial Union Room 103A on the first floor. For reference, we’re across from the theater and directly behind the Goldy Gopher statue. Nutritious U will continue to be held Tuesday – Thursday during the last week of every month from 12-6 pm. 

Food Pantry dates for the Fall 2022 semester: 

  • September 8th (Opening Day!)
  • September 27th – 29th
  • October 25th – 27th
  • November 29th – December 1st
  • December 13th – 15th

Other food resources available to UMN students this fall include: 

  • Boxed, prepared meals to-go. The student group Swipe Out Hunger distributes boxed to-go meals prepared by the Campus Club. These are available to all students at no cost; proof of need is not required. Vegetarian options are always available. This is a plentiful resource, and students who could benefit from these meals should come to Room 103A on the 1st floor of Coffman Memorial Union (same location as Nutritious U) on Thursdays from 3 – 6 pm. Email swipes@umn.edu for more information.
    • We’re also distributing these meals to students living at Commonwealth Terrace Cooperative (CTC) on Thursdays from 12-1 pm, and to students living at Como Student Community Cooperative (CSCC) on Thursdays from 1:30-2:30 pm. These meals are available at their respective housing locations.
  • GrubHub gift cards (limited resource). Swipe Out Hunger continues to offer $20 GrubHub gift cards to students who could benefit from this resource. To request a card for a student, please email swipes@umn.edu and include the student’s name and email address. Students can also request a card for themselves by emailing swipes@umn.edu.
  • Swipe Out Hunger meal cards. Swipe Out Hunger’s dining hall meal program will continue this semester. Staff or faculty can request that 5 dining hall meal swipes be loaded onto a student’s Ucard by emailing swipes@umn.edu and including the student’s name, email address, and ID. Students can do the same to request meals for themselves. 
  • St. Paul Campus Mobile Food Shelf (Foodmobile). Free groceries & household items are available to any University of Minnesota student and their family on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 12-2 pm in the Commonwealth Terrace Cooperative Housing north parking lot. This program is operated by Keystone Community Services and will run through the academic year.
  • Mobile Market. This market on a bus offers affordable and fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, grains, and other high-quality groceries. Students can pay with cash, card, or their EBT card (SNAP benefits). The Market will be open on the south side of Memorial Union and will run for two hours each time. Dates and times will be shared soon. 
  • SNAP Screening. Some UMN students are eligible to receive federal SNAP benefits, which can help them pay for groceries. Students can self-screen for SNAP eligibility by clicking “Find out if you should apply” on the SNAP for UMN Students webpage. They will be directed to the online SNAP application if they are likely eligible based on their responses.
