My name is Emma Pederson and I am the new Peer Adviser here at the Sociology Department. I get to write the Sociology Newsletter to share important announcements as well as opportunities for you. In the near future, I will have Drop-In hours and appointments available. Bobby is of course also available!

- I am a junior studying Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Deviance, B.A. with a minor in Psychology.

For those of you, like me, who need to readjust to school life, here are some important dates and deadlines:
September 10 – Last day to add classes without instructor approval
September 17 – Last day to cancel classes and not receive a “W”
September 17 – Last day to change grade basis (A-F or S/N)
September 17 – Last day to add classes without college approval
September 18 – Last day to apply for undergraduate graduation for the upcoming semester
November 12 – Last day to cancel classes without college approval online
November 13 – Registration begins for next semester (One Stop will email you with your assigned registration date)
December 12 – Last day of instruction for classes
December 12 – Last day to use One Time Only Late Withdrawal for regular term courses with a final during finals week
December 14 – December 20 – Final Examinations

They are looking specifically for students to cover shifts on:
Front Desk Assistants are responsible for:
- Staffing the Department reception area: answer phones, fax, welcome and assist guests, manage front desk email and voicemail
- Distributing campus & US Mail deliveries
- Making copies and compiling materials at staff member’s request
- Monitoring and maintaining printers and fax machines (paper, toner, etc.) – troubleshoot and/or report issues as appropriate
- Maintaining confidential files, records, and databases
- Maintaining organization and supplies of Department storage and copy areas
- Performing special projects and additional tasks as assigned
